Tough win! United FC deserved to continue the journey in President’s Cup!

On the 2nd of September United FC faced their rivals from the previous season – Gulf United FC! The match took place on a great stadium and our team was fully prepared for the game. However, the first half was quite dramatic, the initiative passed from one team to another. Our new goalie Abdulla made some great saves, that helped United FC take the end of the first half under their control. And during the added time the defender of Gulf United FC wasn’t fast enough and made a foul in the penalty area, so the referee pointed to the spot. And on the 49th minute Pape confidentially took his chance and opened the score. Both teams went to the locker room with one goal advantage.
The second half started with the attempts of Gulf United FC to even the score. Fortunately, our defence: Ali, Ahmed, Essa and Mohammad played safe. But on the 62nd minute our opponents scored their first goal of the match. After that United FC made some substitutes. Aziz, Thani and Essa went to the bench and Hassan, Abdulrahman and Moussa entered the game. Moussa also once saved the goal with his head. So United FC took the game under their control and created a lot of chances. There was even a hit in the post. So the score was 1-1 and the extra time was coming.
During the first half of the extra time United FC was successful enough to score. On the 108th minute Pape made the double and United FC took the advantage. The second half was also great, but during the ending of the game there was a foul in our box. So Gulf United FC scored a penalty.
Then the penalty shootout started and United FC was more confident and cold blooded. Abdulla saved the fifth penalty and brought us a victory!
It was a very tough and dramatic match! Even though it was the first official game of the season. It’s a wonderful feeling when you start the season with a victory!
